A list of preferred providers can be found here. We allow you to use any registered optometrist, dentist, physiotherapist or podiatrist in Australia. For other health care services such as chiropractic, massage, etc, benefits are paid for treatment by registered practitioners in private practice and recognised natural therapists approved by Union Health.
Find out moreAn extras out-of-pocket cost is the difference between the amount a service provider charges and the benefit we pay. For example, if a physiotherapist charges $70 for a visit and we pay a benefit of $40, the out-of-pocket cost would be $30.
Find out moreNew memberships and upgrades of cover have waiting periods, including two months for all extras services (unless specified), six months for some services like Active Health Bonus and optical, twelve months for major dental and prostheses, and two years for laser eye surgery. Waiting periods can differ between levels of cover.
Find out moreAt Union Health we offer an Active Health Bonus as a reward for completing an online health assessment. Members on combined hospital and extras products (excluding Basic Extras) can use this bonus to pay for out-of-pocket costs for extras treatments, up to the annual limit.
