Hospital cover inclusions

The level of hospital cover you choose is largely a personal choice that you might make depending on your needs.

You might need a higher level – silver or gold – to cover a particular health condition, like insulin pumps for diabetics or pain management for an extreme back condition. Or you may just want enough cover to avoid paying the Medicare Levy Surcharge or Lifetime Health Cover loading that kicks in at age 30.

Regardless of the cover you choose, all our hospital covers include:
• Treatment as an inpatient in a private hospital for medically necessary treatment.
• Accommodation, theatre fees, intensive care, cardiac care, government approved prostheses and hospital medication for all services included in your cover.

Tip: Before being admitted into hospital you're entitled to ask your doctor for an estimate of possible costs (called informed financial consent) and also check if they will charge you under our access gap scheme to reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

Families are in a great position to squeeze loads of value from the right selection of extras. We’ve got preventative care and health assessments that will make sure your family stays well. We all know to expect the unexpected when you have busy, active kids so we’ve got extras for you to use whether they’re healthy, hurting or healing. Plus, we have some handy extras you may not even know about!

You can have peace of mind that your kids are covered when they’re at school with school accident cover.
General dental includes removal of those worrisome wisdom teeth at the dentist. Remember: if it's more serious and you need hospital surgery, you'll need the right hospital cover.
You can claim 100% of the cost of mouthguards at the Health Hub and our preferred providers, for up to two children each year.
Kids come first with our psychology exams for troubled tweens or teens, children affected by bullying, coping with school pressure or family dynamics.
Parents-to-be and new parents can access foetal screening, midwife services and lactation consultants.
If you or your children have chronic health conditions, you may be covered for screenings, monitors and other specialised equipment.
