Where can I find my private health insurance tax statement?
As a Union Health member, we send your tax information directly to the ATO by 15 July each year so you are able to complete your income tax return.
Once your tax statement is ready, you can also download it directly from the Union Health member portal. Once you login, on the 'Overview' page below your membership number, you should see 'Get Tax Statement'.
If this does not appear it is likely your tax statement has not yet been finalised yet. Alternatively you can find it in your myTax portal or with your registered tax agent.
Do dependants get a tax statement?
Short answer, no. Dependants on a family policy do not get their own tax statement as they are not eligible to claim the Private Health Insurance Rebate from the Australian Government.
Dependants can however, use a copy of the family policy tax statement if they need to complete the private health insurance policy detail section of their tax return.
For instance if (as a dependant) your income is above a certain threshold, you will need this to ensure you are not charged the Medicare Levy Surcharge.
